(Patria) - The "Peace March 2019" set off from Dubrovnik last Thursday towards Srebrenica, and today the participants arrived in Hadžići. They were welcomed with warm words of welcome by the mayor of Hadžići, Hamdo Ejubović, along with his assistants at the central memorial to the martyrs and fallen soldiers, where flowers were laid.
The march was organised under the patronage of the Islamic Community of Dubrovnik, and the idea for the march came from members of the Friendship Society "Steps of Peace" from Odžak. The reason for the decision that the "Peace March 2019" should start from Dubrovnik is the traditional procession that the people of Dubrovnik organise every year on 11 July.
On that day, along the Stradun, in a procession involving several hundred citizens, tribute is paid to the victims of Srebrenica by symbolically throwing roses into the sea from the old city port (harbour).
The journey is 520 kilometres long. The route of the Peace March of the people of Dubrovnik is: Dubrovnik - Trebinje - Stolac - Mostar - Jablanica - Konjic - Sarajevo - Olovo - Živinice - Kalesija - Nezuk - Potočari.
