Former Macedonian footballer Martin Janusev (28) was killed by a firearm in the Skopje neighborhood of Aerodrom, Macedonian media reported.
The police announced that the incident occurred last night at 5:40 PM.
"The young man was transported to the hospital with no signs of life. Despite this, doctors attempted to resuscitate him for 40 minutes, but without success," the Macedonian Ministry of Health stated.
Janusev was transported by private vehicle to the city general hospital "Sveti Naum Ohridski," but doctors were unable to do anything for him.
The motive for the crime is unclear, and those present at the scene claim that the attacker was wearing a gray hoodie. He approached Janusev and fired four or five bullets into his head and neck.
Martin Janusev's last club was Lokomotiva, and before that he played in Hungary.
