Smell of burning still in the air, police securing Kvadrant market

(Patria) - Kvadrant market is secured by members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton Police Administration after the fire. Electricity has been cut off at the entire location and surrounding buildings around the market. Windows on the adjacent building have also cracked from the heat.

An investigation is scheduled for tomorrow to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Smoke can be smelled in the air in the wider Otoka area, even though the fire was extinguished around 3 PM.

The fire broke out around 1 PM and quickly spread to almost the entire market, i.e., all stalls. According to information from KJKP Tržnice-Pijace, there are about 175 tenants.

They watched in disbelief as everything disappeared before their eyes in just a few seconds. What was not destroyed by the fire was destroyed by water during firefighting.

Representatives of municipal, city, and cantonal authorities have promised assistance to the people who have lost their livelihoods.
