(Patria) - The 75th season of the Formula 1 World Championship begins this weekend with the Bahrain Grand Prix, and for the first time with two consecutive Saturday Grands Prix.
This weekend, the Bahrain Grand Prix is on Saturday, not as is customary on Sunday, with the entire program starting on Thursday, reports Index Auto.
F1 races are usually held over three days with practice sessions on Friday, followed by final practice and qualifying on Saturday, and the Grand Prix on Sunday.
This changes for the first two races of the season.
Namely, although Ramadan officially begins only on March 10, the teams insisted that the race in Bahrain also be moved a day earlier for logistical reasons, i.e., to have enough time to move to Saudi Arabia.
And there, the first day of Ramadan will also be "avoided" by organizing the race on Saturday, March 9.
This Formula 1 season, which has a record 24 races, will feature an unprecedented situation where as many as three Grands Prix will be held on Saturday evenings.
Namely, in addition to the aforementioned, the Las Vegas Grand Prix will again be held on Saturday evening, as it was last year, on November 23.
