Snow expected in lower areas on Wednesday

Bakir Krajinović from the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute has prepared a long-term forecast, reports the Patria News Agency.

- Significant precipitation marked the past week. In the first week of December, the accumulated precipitation ranged from 25 mm in Tuzla to 157 mm in Bjelašnica. In other cities, accumulated precipitation amounts were 26 in Gradačac, 33 in Zenica, 36 in Sarajevo, 40 in Bihać, 49 in Bugojno, 50 in Sanski Most, 60 in Ivan Sedlo, 74 in Mostar, and 129 mm in Livno. Average air temperatures were above average, ranging from 3 to 10 degrees in Bosnia and from 8 to 15 degrees in Herzegovina. Regarding average daily temperatures, the warmest city was Mostar with 12.6, and the coldest was Bihać with 4.1 degrees. Maximum daily temperatures in Mostar reached values of 18.4, while in Gradačac they did not exceed 6.2 degrees. No frost was recorded last week, and the lowest morning temperature was recorded in Gradačac at 1.8, while in other Bosnian cities it was around 3, and in Herzegovina around 8 degrees – the forecast states.

The beginning of this week, from December 8th to 10th, will be characterized by unstable weather with rain and snow. Snow is expected in the mountains, and on Wednesday also in lower areas, with the possible formation of a thin snow cover. Morning temperatures during this period will range around -3 degrees in Bosnia and around 1 degree in Herzegovina, while maximum daily temperatures will reach up to 5 degrees in Bosnia and up to 11 °C in Herzegovina.

- A period of more stable and cold weather is expected from December 11th to 16th, with a gradual increase in temperature from December 14th. During this period, predominantly cloudy weather with fog is expected in Bosnia, and longer sunny intervals in Herzegovina. Morning temperatures in Bosnia will range around -4 degrees, while in Herzegovina they will be around 1 degree. Maximum daily temperatures will reach around 4 degrees in Bosnia and around 10 °C in Herzegovina.

From December 17th to 23rd, unstable weather with rain and snow is expected in most of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Morning temperatures in Bosnia will range around -4 degrees, and in Herzegovina around 1 degree, while maximum daily temperatures in Bosnia will be around 4 degrees, and in Herzegovina around 11 °C – the statement concludes.
