Order in Central Bosnia: Fines for Unregistered Tourists

The Tourist Board of the Central Bosnia Canton has decided to elevate the tourist image to a higher level. It calls on all legal entities and private individuals who, in any way, rent accommodation to domestic and foreign tourists to register in their records. Those who register with the Tourist Board will be included on their map of accommodation capacities, which will ultimately bring them a larger number of tourists, but for those who continue to rent out rooms for overnight stays illegally, sanctions will follow, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The Central Bosnia Canton is one of the leading cantons in the Federation of BiH in terms of tourist potential, especially during the New Year holidays, when Mount Vlašić is full of foreign tourists.

However, local authorities have been warning for years that hospitality providers or private individuals who rent accommodation to tourists mostly do so illegally, from which the state derives no benefit. But it seems that illegal tourism in this beautiful part of BiH could finally come to an end.

- Those who, in any way, engage in renting rooms to tourists, by registering with the Tourist Board of the Central Bosnia Canton and meeting minimal financial obligations, will acquire the status of accommodation capacity and thus conduct their business legally – stated the Tourist Board of the Central Bosnia Canton.

- The Tourist Board will promote all registered facilities as accommodation capacities where tourists can stay overnight, place them on the map of accommodation capacities, provide recommendations for them, and direct tourists to these facilities. Unregistered accommodation capacities will be subject to inspections in the coming period, and the Tourist Board of the Central Bosnia Canton will not be able to guarantee their operation.

The Tourist Board of the Central Bosnia Canton explains that in this way they want to have clearer control over the number of tourists visiting this part of BiH, but also to improve the image of tourist destinations in the Central Bosnia Canton, writes NAP.
