In the 2013/2014 school year, 13,000 fewer students enrolled in BiH than in 2012

The Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina has published data on the number of children enrolled in preschool and school institutions in the past 2013/2014 school year, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Preschool education

In BiH, there were a total of 258 preschool institutions with 19,880 children. Compared to the previous school year, the number of preschool institutions increased by 6.2%, the number of children using preschool institutions increased by 5.6%, and the number of employees increased by 5.2%.

Primary education

At the beginning of the 2013/2014 school year, 302,133 students were enrolled in 1,870 primary schools in BiH, which is 2,748 students, or 0.9%, fewer compared to the previous school year. At the beginning of the 2013/2014 school year, 24,476 teachers were involved in the teaching process, of which 17,315 were women, or 70.7%.

Secondary education

At the beginning of the 2013/2014 school year, 156,350 students were enrolled in 311 secondary schools in BiH, which is 10,312 students, or 6.2%, fewer compared to the previous school year. At the beginning of the 2013/2014 school year, 13,037 teachers were involved in the teaching process, of which 7,687 were women, or 59%.

Higher education

In the 2013/2014 school year, 113,290 students were enrolled in the first cycle of higher education studies, including integrated studies, in the winter semester, of which 99,760 students were enrolled in all years of study, and 13,530 were final-year students. In 2013, 18,618 students graduated, which is 1.4% more compared to the 2012 school year. Of the total number of graduates, 60.1% are female students, according to the Agency for Statistics of BiH, as reported by Patria.
