In the shadow of success: How much the Dragons earned by qualifying for the 2026 World Cup

The qualification of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team for the World Cup brought not only a sporting triumph and euphoria across the country, but also significant financial benefits for the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina (N/FS BiH).

Thanks to the success in the playoffs and the elimination of Italy at Bilino Polje, Bosnian football will also profit financially.

According to FIFA rules, each national team that secures a spot at the World Cup will receive a basic prize of around nine million euros.

Thus, it is already clear that qualification for the world's biggest sporting event will provide a serious financial boost to Bosnian football.

The story does not end there – advancing through the tournament means additional earnings.

If Bosnia and Herzegovina secures a place in the knockout stage, i.e., passes the group stage, the Association would collect an additional 1.5 million euros, bringing the total figure to 10.5 million euros.

Each subsequent stage brings even higher premiums, while the new world champion will earn as much as 43.3 million euros.

The Dragons will play in Group B at the upcoming World Cup, where they face matches against Canada, Qatar, and Switzerland.

The top two teams from the group will advance to the next stage, meaning that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a realistic chance to further increase its earnings.

The victory over Italy and qualification for the World Cup represent a double success for Bosnia and Herzegovina – both sporting and financial.

In addition to making history on the field, the Dragons have secured a more stable future for Bosnian football, which, with good results, could bring even greater benefits in the coming period.
