(Patria) - Arctic weather has gripped parts of Russia, with temperatures in the Siberian wilderness dropping to -58 degrees Celsius, meteorologists announced.

Yakutsk, one of the coldest cities in the world, located about 5,000 kilometers east of Moscow, is covered in ice clouds and fog, drone footage shows, Reuters reports.

Temperatures in parts of the Sakha Republic, a vast region slightly smaller than India located in the northeastern part of Siberia, dropped below -55 degrees Celsius last night.

In Oymyakon, a settlement in Sakha, it is -58 degrees today. Meteorologists said the real feel would be -63 degrees Celsius, considering humidity and wind.

At the market in Yakutsk, fish are sold deeply frozen, packed in dozens of boxes. No freezer is needed, and the saleswomen are wrapped in large fur hats.

- It's cold. You just need to have appropriate quality clothing, and then everything will be fine. The main thing is to keep moving so that your blood circulates - stated a local resident who introduced himself as Pyotr, reports RSE.
