German Arrested in Sarajevo on INTERPOL Warrant, Charged with Attempted Murder

(Patria) - Officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) arrested a German citizen in Sarajevo on May 31, for whom an INTERPOL warrant had been issued for attempted murder.

“Acting on an international diffusion warrant issued at the request of the judicial authorities of NCB INTERPOL Wiesbaden, Federal Republic of Germany, police officers of the Operational-Investigation Team FAST, State Investigation and Protection Agency, in cooperation with officers of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on May 31, 2024, in Sarajevo, deprived one person of liberty. The person is wanted for criminal prosecution for committing the criminal offense of attempted murder with intent, causing bodily harm by a dangerous act under the German Criminal Code, for which the maximum penalty of life imprisonment may be imposed,” SIPA stated.

They added that the person was located after several days of active search and cooperation with the competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany, with exchange of information and cooperation with the Service for Foreigners' Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and partner agencies of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The person deprived of liberty was handed over to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the legal deadline for further jurisdiction,” SIPA announced.
