14th "Days of Waqf" Event Opens in Sarajevo

(Patria) - The 14th "Days of Waqf" event will be ceremonially opened today at 2:30 PM in the Gazi Husrev-beg Library in Sarajevo, with a special program gathering representatives of the Islamic Community, Waqf institutions, and international partners.

According to the announced protocol, the attendees will be addressed by the Deputy Reis-ul-Ulama of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prof. Dr. Enes-ef. Ljevaković, Director of the Waqf Directorate, Huso Salihović, and the General Director of the General Directorate of Waqfs of the Republic of Turkey, Sinan Aksu.

During the program, an award will be presented to the most prominent waqf donor in Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2025.

The event will last until May 5th, and on the opening day, a sermon about waqfs, authored by the Mufti of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Nedžad-ef. Grabus, will be read in all mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora.

On Sunday, April 26th, several events are planned, including the ceremonial opening of the Dugalića Mosque complex in Nevesinje, as well as the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the Murat-spahija mosque in Galičići near Blagaj.



On Monday, April 27th, a round table discussion on the topic "The Role of Women in the Development of Waqfs: From Historical Heritage to Contemporary Practices" will be held at the Student Center of the Islamic Community.

A day later, on April 28th, a promotion of the monograph "Waqfs in the Area of the Ljubuški Mufti's Office" will be held in Ljubuški.

The program continues on April 30th in Banja Luka, where the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of a clock tower is planned.

The closing event of the manifestation will be held on May 5th in Novi Pazar, where a round table will be held on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Altun-alem Mosque.

As part of the event, an exhibition titled "The Dugalića Mosque Complex in Nevesinje - A Story of Reconstruction" is also planned, which will be presented in the courtyard of this mosque.

The "Days of Waqf" event once again reminds us of the lasting value of waqfs as a good that transcends time and remains in the service of the community.
