
(Patria) - Bosnia and Herzegovina once again has something to be proud of in the field of informatics. During the weekend, June 14 and 15, 2025, two prestigious state competitions were held in Sarajevo, gathering the most talented young programmers from all over the country.
These are the 20th State Informatics Competition for primary school students (jBHOI2025) and the 29th State Competition for high school students (BHOI2025). The most successful participants have qualified for the most important international informatics competitions.
At the jubilee competition for primary school students, held on June 14, 24 students participated, and the best among them are: Mak Nurboja, Primary School Malta, Sarajevo, Amir Karamović, Primary School Musa Ćazim Ćatić, Sarajevo, Aleksej Popović, Primary School “Sveti Sava”, Gacko, and Tarik Odžak, Primary School Grbavica, Sarajevo.
These four students will represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (EJOI), which will be held from August 29 to September 4 in Shumen, Bulgaria.
A day later, on June 15, the 29th competition for high schools was held, with 38 students participating. The best placements were achieved by: Faruk Ibrahimović, Second Gymnasium Sarajevo, Benjamin Mujkić, Second Gymnasium Sarajevo, Faruk Demirović, Fifth Gymnasium Sarajevo, and Andrej Krčmar, Gymnasium Banja Luka.
They will represent BiH at the prestigious International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), which will be held from July 27 to August 3, 2025, in Sucre, Bolivia.
The best young programmers from BiH have the opportunity to participate in two more important competitions: the Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (JBOI) – Cyprus, from October 24, 2025, and the Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (BOI) – Italy, from September 25, 2025.
Placement for these competitions will be determined by additional qualifications that will follow during the summer.
