Race for the Cure held in Sarajevo: 240,000 KM raised

(Patria) - Today in Sarajevo, the "Race for the Cure" – a Run/Walk for Healing dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, the importance of regular check-ups and early detection, celebrating life and providing support to women facing the disease.

People from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina came to this event, from Mostar, Banja Luka, Bihać, Tuzla, Zenica, Gradačac, Gračanica, Bijeljina...

It is the largest socially responsible event in our country and the region, uniting all groups of society.

The event was also attended by the best Bosnian athlete, Amel Tuka.

"It is a great pleasure for me to be here today, to show support in this way for our ladies, our sisters, our daughters. To send a very important message from this place, that they are not alone, that we men are their protectors, that they see in us that security and the right kind of support in the problems they are going through. I am happy to see such a large number of people have responded, that we are spreading awareness in mutual understanding and helping. Thank you to the organizers for this," said Amel Tuka for Faktor.

This year, a record amount of 240,000 KM was raised to help women suffering from breast cancer.

The donated funds are used in their entirety to provide free mammography screenings across the country (Health Days), Psychosocial Support activities, and to prepare First Aid Packages for every woman newly operated on for breast cancer in our country.
