Although there is still no official information about the continuation of the session of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, as the Bosnian news agency Patria learns, this could happen by Friday, December 19.
Namely, today the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina gave a seven-day deadline to the assemblies of the Una-Sana Canton and the Sarajevo Canton to submit candidate lists for the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Of the ten cantons, only these two cantons have not submitted lists, although the constitutional deadline for doing so has expired. In this way, the formation of government at the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is blocked, as well as at the state level, because the formation of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina depends on its formation at the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The main reason why these two cantons have not submitted lists is the lack of a parliamentary majority, and negotiations between parties in the Sarajevo Canton are still ongoing. We remind you that the constitutive session of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly was held on November 21, but only certificates were distributed to the representatives at that time. To date, the two parties with the largest number of representatives, the SDA and the DF, have not managed to find a partner with whom they would form a majority in the Sarajevo Canton.
