The Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton sent a letter to health centers this morning regarding the suspension of tetanus vaccination, bh. news agency Patria has learned.
This is a standard procedure if complications arise, and vaccination is suspended until all circumstances are determined.
The decision was made after 13 children, born in 1996, were admitted to the Clinic for Infectious Diseases yesterday with non-specific clinical symptoms indicated as possible side effects (headache, dizziness, unsteadiness while walking, and tingling in the hands), who received the tetanus vaccine at the Vrazova Health Center. These are students from the Secondary Medical School on Bjelave.
- Medical assistance was provided to the patients, and five out of the 13 children were admitted for further treatment at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases. The patients are recovering successfully and their condition is stable - it was announced from KCUS.
We could not obtain more information about this case, and the spokesperson for the Public Health Center of Sarajevo Canton, Arman Šarkić, did not respond to Patria agency's inquiry about this event, which we sent this morning, nor did he answer calls.
The director of the Public Health Institute, Snježana Balta, also did not answer the phone calls from the Patria agency.
