RMU Kakanj miners begin work stoppage

(Patria) - In the Kakanj lignite mine, miners have begun a work stoppage after the February 2026 salary was not paid within the usual timeframe.

As stated by the president of the RMU Kakanj Trade Union, Abdel Fazlić, the miners have been patient for several days, as salaries in Kakanj have been paid around the 10th of the month for years.

"They do responsible and difficult work. They have earned their salaries. Of course, they are bitter," said Fazlić.

This sentence perhaps best describes the situation among the miners. People who descend underground every day, do one of the hardest jobs, and carry a huge burden of responsibility, are today waiting for what they have already honestly earned through their work.
A miner does not ask for anything out of turn.

"They are not asking for charity. A miner only asks for their salary – earned in the pit, in the dark, with sweat and risk. Therefore, the dissatisfaction among the Kakanj miners is understandable.
Because the miner's bread is the hardest earned bread in this country," it is stated on social networks.
