Bust of Dr. Safvet-beg Bašagić unveiled in Jelena Vitas Park

(Patria) - The bust of Dr. Safvet-beg Bašagić, one of the most significant Bosnian-Herzegovinian writers, cultural and social creators, was ceremonially unveiled today in Jelena Vitas Park in Sarajevo.

The ceremony of unveiling and public presentation of the bust was organized by the Bosniak Cultural Community, as an integral part of the program commemorating the Day of Sarajevo Canton and the Day of Centar Municipality Sarajevo, with the support of numerous institutions and partners.

The bust was initiated and realized by the Bosniak Cultural Community, the author is academic sculptor Adis Lukač, and financial support for the project was provided by the Centar Municipality, among others.

The event was attended by representatives of all levels of government, cultural and public life, students from Sarajevo schools, as well as citizens of Sarajevo who paid tribute with their presence to a great figure whose work left an indelible mark on the cultural and historical heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The President of the Bosniak Cultural Community, Prof. Dr. Sanjin Kodrić, thanked all institutions, partners, and individuals who contributed to the realization of this significant project, emphasizing that the unveiling of the bust of Dr. Safvet-beg Bašagić represents an act of lasting respect towards one of the most important cultural and intellectual giants of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
