Early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality on Sunday, 36,195 voters eligible to vote

(Patria) - Early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality Sarajevo will be held on Sunday, 10/29/2023. Polling stations open at 07:00 and close at 19:00.


In accordance with the Instruction on the deadlines for electoral activities for holding early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality Sarajevo, the election silence begins 24 hours before the opening of polling stations, i.e., at 07:00 on October 28, and lasts until the closing of polling stations, i.e., until 19:00 on October 29, 2023.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has certified the candidacies of Irfan Čengić (SDP-Social Democratic Party of BiH) and Dženan Selimbegović (SDA-Party of Democratic Action) for participation in the early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality Sarajevo.

In accordance with the Decision on closing and confirming the number of registered voters in the Central Voters Register for the early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality Sarajevo, adopted by the Central Election Commission of BiH at its 66th session held on 10/11/2023, a total of 36,195 voters are registered in the Central Voters Register as of 10/09/2023 at 24:00, for the early elections. This includes 35,601 regular voters, 8 voters voting in person, and 586 voters registered to vote by mail. 179 voters will be able to vote via a mobile team.

A total of 46 polling stations have been formed, and 7 mobile teams will also be working in the field. Polling stations for voting on unconfirmed ballots and for absentee voting are attached to regular polling stations.

It is estimated that the costs within the competence of the Central Election Commission of BiH for the early elections in Stari Grad Municipality Sarajevo will amount to 89,500 KM, while the municipality will incur additional costs for paying compensation to members of polling station committees and other minor expenses, so the total costs for conducting these early elections will be known after the elections are held.

To monitor the legality of the early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality Sarajevo, held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, and to coordinate and promptly report to the Central Election Commission of BiH on all relevant facts and circumstances, the Central Election Commission of BiH has appointed three supervisors.
