
The number of asylum seekers in Luxembourg has been growing since the beginning of 2015 and reached a record 98 applications in March, with 275 applications since the beginning of the year, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
The largest number are from Kosovo (26), Syria (11), Montenegro (10), Albania (7), BiH (6), Georgia (5), Eritrea (5), Macedonia (4), Algeria, Morocco, and Iraq (3 each), Iran, Cameroon, Liberia, Somalia (2 each), and Belarus, Serbia, Senegal, Ghana, Ethiopia, Congo, and Burundi (1 each).
In March, 56 asylum seekers voluntarily returned to their countries of origin after their applications were rejected, of which 23 returned to BiH and 25 to Montenegro.
Luxembourg authorities have considered 154 applications since the beginning of the year. So far, they have rejected 62 and approved 33.
