May sees increase in tourist numbers in FBiH, with most overnight stays by Turks, Croats, and Chinese

(Patria) - In FBiH during the month of May, there was a recorded arrival of 149,134 tourists, which is 4.3 percent more compared to May 2024, and 30.1 percent more compared to April of this year.

The share of domestic tourists in the total number of arrivals was 26.4 percent, and foreign tourists was 73.6 percent.

The total number of tourist overnight stays in May this year was 281,021, which is 6.0 percent more compared to May 2024, and 23.4 percent more compared to April 2025. The share of domestic tourists in the total number of overnight stays was 26.2 percent, and foreign tourists was 73.8 percent.

By type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was achieved within the Hotels and similar accommodation type, with a share of 95.9 percent, according to data from the Federal Institute of Statistics.

In the structure of foreign tourist overnight stays, the most overnight stays were achieved by tourists from: Turkey (12.2 percent), Croatia (8.9 percent), China (5.7 percent), USA (5.2 percent), and Germany (5.1 percent), totaling 37.1 percent. Tourists from other countries accounted for 62.9 percent of overnight stays.

The number of available beds in May 2025 was 33,836, which is 7.5 percent more compared to May 2024.

The net bed occupancy rate for the Hotels and similar accommodation type in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in May was 30.5 percent.
