Number of imported coronavirus infection cases also falling in China

(Patria) – Official sources from the recently epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak report a fall in the number of imported cases since Wednesday, while the infection has not been spreading among the local population for days, including in Hubei province (Wuhan).

On Tuesday, 47 new cases were recorded, all of whom were individuals who had returned to China from abroad, a significant decrease compared to 78 the previous day.

The highest number of new 'imported' cases is in Shanghai, numbering 19, while the usual high numbers are significantly down in Beijing and other major cities. 

Everyone arriving in China is placed in a two-week quarantine.

The total number of confirmed infections in mainland China is now 81,218, of which 474 are imported cases.

The death toll from the epidemic in China so far stands at 3,281 people, four more than the previous day, Reuters reports.
