Handover of Kangal anti-drone system carried out at Rajlovac barracks, Turkey continues to support BiH and its Armed Forces

(Patria) - The Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina has received from the Republic of Turkey the Kangal anti-drone system, which will be used by our country to secure facilities from attacks and overflights of unknown aircraft in BiH's airspace. The handover of this significant donation was attended by the Minister of Defence of BiH, Zukan Helez, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, Emin Akseki.

Akseki emphasised that BiH and Turkey have signed many protocols, 28 of which are still in force.

"As the Republic of Turkey, we have deep ties with BiH, and the security of BiH is one of the priorities in the Balkans. Among the numerous areas of cooperation, the close military relations between our countries occupy a very important place. In order to increase the capacities of the Armed Forces of BiH, I wish to highlight that we are pleased to provide support. Our country's contribution to the EUFOR mission constitutes another aspect of the strong military support we provide to BiH. Between our countries, many protocols have been signed in the field of military cooperation, and 28 are still in force, while the agreements signed last year include: within the framework of the agreement on military financial cooperation, vehicle repairs were carried out, and spare parts for tanks and armoured personnel carriers were delivered on 18 October 2023," said the Turkish ambassador.

He reiterated that Turkey will continue to support the territorial integrity of BiH through the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) and EUFOR.

Helez thanked Turkey for the support it provides to BiH, emphasising that this new technology ensures the protection of facilities from attacks and overflights.

"BiH, like many other countries in the world, faces threats brought by technological development. Recently, unauthorised overflights above BiH have been observed. Many countries in the world do not have an adequate solution to this problem. This system, based on electronic action, uses the latest technologies, thereby ensuring effective protection of facilities from attacks and overflights. Since the formation of the Armed Forces of BiH, friendly Turkey has provided and continues to provide significant support. Thank you for the partnership and friendship so far.

The Kangal system is a means for protecting critical infrastructure, military areas, and strategically important urban and rural areas from mini/micro unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, and FPV (First Person View) threats.

Kangal possesses a software-defined jamming system and can be programmed across the entire frequency range according to user needs. The system provides an efficient and flexible solution in line with operational requirements. The system can be easily programmed against new threats and provide long-lasting protection.
