
(Patria) - At the end of August, there were 322,121 people in Bosnia and Herzegovina registered with employment services, and compared to July, the number of unemployed increased by 1,181 people.
Unemployment decreased in Republika Srpska by 227 people (0.44%), and increased in the Federation of BiH by 1,303 people (0.37%) and in Brčko District BiH by 105 people (0.91%).
The structure of people seeking employment, as of 31 August 2025, is as follows:
Unskilled 91,841 or 28.51%, of which 36,446 (28.13%) men and 55,395 (28.77%) women;
Semi-skilled 4,198 or 1.30%, of which 1,969 (1.52%) men and 2,229 (1.16%) women;
Skilled 100,037 or 31.06%, of which 50,558 (39.03%) men and 49,479 (25.79%) women;
Highly skilled 641 or 0.20%, of which 465 (0.36%) men and 176 (0.09%) women;
Secondary education 91,648 or 28.45%, of which 30,878 (23.84%) men and 60,770 (31.56%) women;
Higher vocational education 5,103 or 1.58%, of which 1,619 (1.25%) men and 3,484 (1.81%) women;
University education 28,653 or 8.90%, of which 7,612 (5.88%) men and 21,041 (10.93%) women.
Out of the total number of registered unemployed persons in August 2025, there were 11,648 newly registered job seekers, of which 6,415 were women. The number of people removed from the employment service records was 10,524. The number of women removed from the records was 5,270. Out of the total number removed from the employment service records, 6,333 or 60.18% were employed, of which 3,279 were women or 51.78%.
In August 2025, employers reported 3,507 needs for new workers to employment services in BiH, of which 464 were women, while the registered number of people whose employment ended in the reporting period was 8,545. The registered number of women whose employment ended in the reporting period was 4,933 or 57.73%.
According to data from the Agency for Statistics of BiH, in July 2025, the number of employed persons in BiH was 850,270, of which 388,009 were women. Compared to June 2025, the number of employed persons decreased by 0.4%, and the number of employed women decreased by 0.6%.
According to the results of the Labour Force Survey for Q2 2025, the labour force (economically active population) in BiH consisted of 1,405,000 people, while the number of inactive persons was 1,468,000 people.
Within the labour force, there were 1,221,000 employed and 184,000 unemployed persons. The survey unemployment rate is significantly lower than the registered rate and was 13.1% for BiH in Q2 2025.
The number of employed persons in Q2 2025 is 1.1% lower compared to Q1 2025, while the number of unemployed persons increased by 2.8%.
The unemployment rate in BiH in Q2 2025 was 13.1% and is 0.5 percentage points higher compared to Q1 2025 (12.6%). The survey employment rate in Q2 2025 was 42.5% and is 0.4 percentage points lower compared to Q1 2025 (42.9%).
The youth unemployment rate (15-24 years) in BiH in Q2 2025 was 33.9% and is 3.7 percentage points higher compared to Q1 2025 (30.2%), according to the statement from the Employment and Labour Agency of BiH.
