Construction equipment seized in Herzegovina, oils and lubricants in Posavina

(Patria) - In the Herzegovina region, officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority (UIO) of BiH temporarily seized a larger quantity of construction equipment and tools at the Bijača border crossing.

A detailed inspection of a container shipment from China revealed a larger quantity of construction equipment and tools that had not been declared to customs authorities upon entry into the customs territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The value of the temporarily seized goods is estimated at 56,000 KM, and legal measures have been taken against the perpetrator of the illegal activities.

Field activities were carried out within the framework of the Container Control Program in BiH, financed by the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNDOC).

In the Posavina region, UIO BiH officials temporarily seized oils and lubricants at the Bosanski Šamac customs post that were attempted to be smuggled into Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A detailed inspection of the shipment declared for import customs clearance, which contained various motor oils, lubricants, and additives, revealed, in addition to the declared goods, a portion of goods that were not shown in the import documentation.

The undeclared goods were hidden in the central part of the cargo space, surrounded by duly declared goods. A penalty order was issued to the person who committed the violation, and the goods, with a market value estimated at 9,736 KM, were temporarily seized.

While carrying out measures within their jurisdiction, UIO officials from the Enforcement Sector and the Customs Sector used specialized equipment donated to the Authority by the U.S. Embassy in BiH through the EXBS Program, as well as by UNDP/UNODC.
