In Gornji Vakuf, Day of Detainees of the Municipality Marked

In Gornji Vakuf, April 10 is marked as the Day of Detainees of this municipality. A Memorial to the killed detainees from this municipality, in the place called Ždrimci, was also opened.

During the conflict between the HVO and the Army of RBiH in 1993, HVO members killed 27 detainees.

According to data from the Association of Detainees of BiH, there were 657 detention camps in BiH during the aggression, the largest number of which were in the territory controlled by the army and police of Republika Srpska, and through which a total of about 200,000 prisoners passed. About 30,000 of them were killed or are still listed as missing.

In Gornji Vakuf during the aggression, 11 detention camps were opened, through which about 600 civilians passed, mostly women, children, and the elderly.

Stipo Krišto was convicted for crimes in Gornji Vakuf. For crimes committed, among other places in Gornji Vakuf, Jadranko Prlić, Mile Stojić, Berislav Pušić, Valentin Ćorić, Slobodan Praljak, and Milivoje Petković were sentenced to 111 years by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague, writes NAP.
