State of Emergency Declared in Fojnica: Fatalities Reported, Water Not Drinkable

(Patria) - The Crisis Staff of the Civil Protection of the Fojnica Municipality declared a state of emergency today caused by heavy rainfall in the area of the Fojnica municipality.

Due to heavy rainfall in the area of the Fojnica municipality, floods occurred in the settlements of Gojevići, Bakovići, Praje, Bilići, Ostružnica, Podcitonja, Drin, Naselje budućnosti and Pločari polje as a result of the overflowing of the Željeznica and Fojnica rivers, as well as torrential streams.

Unfortunately, there were also human casualties, but the Crisis Staff cannot confirm the exact number due to communication problems.

Road and telephone communications are interrupted in the settlements of Bakovići, Gojevići and Dusina. Also, telephone communication is interrupted in the area of Podcitonja and Trošnjik.

Electricity supply is interrupted in the flooded areas of Gojevići, Bakovići, Trošnjik, Lužine, Podgora, Dusina and Poljana.

The public utility company Šćona informs the public that the water is not drinkable, which is why preventive boiling of drinking water is recommended.

The Municipal Civil Protection Staff has engaged all available forces and resources in the field, as well as the necessary personnel.
