(Patria) - This week is dedicated to presenting Turkish culinary heritage, as well as raising awareness about the cultural richness and diversity that Turkey cherishes.
This year's theme, 'Classics of Turkish Cuisine', was dedicated to dishes passed down through generations.
These recipes reflect the historical and geographical diversity of Turkey – from the Black Sea to southeastern Anatolia, each region contributes to the rich mosaic of flavors.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to BiH emphasized that Turkish cuisine is not just a collection of recipes, but an important part of cultural identity passed down through generations:
'A meal in Turkish culture has a special meaning – it is a moment of togetherness, family gathering, and passing down values to future generations,' said Emin Akseki, Ambassador of Turkey to BiH.
All dishes served during the event were prepared by the Embassy's head chef, Fatih Kucukince, using fresh and seasonal ingredients readily available in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As highlighted, the similarities between local and Turkish ingredients enabled the preparation of dishes while preserving authentic flavors.
One of the key aspects highlighted during the event was sustainability in the kitchen – a value deeply rooted in Turkish tradition.
'Nothing is wasted in our kitchen – everything has its purpose. We find ways to use food leftovers, as waste is not only harmful but also disrespectful to food and those who prepared it,' the ambassador stated.
Turkish Cuisine Week, celebrated simultaneously on multiple continents, once again confirmed the power of culinary arts as a bridge between cultures.
