Jajce is preparing to mark World Tourism Day, after this Bosnian-Herzegovinian city finished the season as one of the most visited tourist destinations in the country this year, writes the news agency Patria.
World Tourism Day was established by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) in 1979, and since then, this day has been celebrated every September 27th. It is celebrated to strengthen awareness within the international community about tourism and its economic, social, cultural, and political significance.
The date of the World Tourism Day celebration also marks the end of the main (summer) tourist season. The goal of this event is to connect tourism with cultural heritage, world peace, ecology, mutual understanding, and the issue of social development...
The theme of this year's World Tourism Day celebration worldwide is "One billion tourists, one billion opportunities." In the global world economy, tourism firmly holds the third to fourth position among all sectors in terms of revenue, employment, and other impacts.
In 2014, global tourism revenues amounted to 937 billion euros, which is 10% of global GDP, 30% of world services exports, and 6% of total exports of goods and services.
The Agency for Cultural, Historical, and Natural Heritage and Development of Tourist Potentials of the City of Jajce will mark World Tourism Day and the end of the summer tourist season on October 1st at the Plaža motel on Veliko Plivsko Lake, under the motto "Tourism - Culture - Sport."
The Director of the Agency, Huso Hadžić, said that all those who have in any way contributed to the work of the Agency, the preservation of cultural and natural heritage, and the promotion and presentation of Jajce's tourist potentials will be invited to the event. Guests will be presented with acknowledgments for their contribution, writes Patria.
