TUZLANSKI MEJDAN BiH basketball players defeated by France

(Patria) - On the court of Tuzlanski Mejdan, the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina played a second-round qualifying match against the national team of France. After a great fight in the first half, the guests broke the resistance of the hosts only in the third quarter and celebrated with a score of 64:74, writes scsport.ba.

The second-round duel featured a match between the two top teams in Group E, as the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina won their first-round match against Cyprus with a score of 66:99, and the French defeated Croatia on their home court with a score of 73:61.

In their previous encounters, Bosnia has only managed to beat France once, while the French have recorded six victories against our national team.

The match against France attracted significant attention from the BiH public, as well as the audience that filled the Mejdan hall to its capacity, with the BHFanaticosi also present.

Coach Bečiragić started this match with a lineup consisting of: Kenan Kamenjaš, Aleksandar Lazić, Edin Atić, Amar Alibegović, and Džanan Musa.

Musa opened the match with his points, but his club teammate Guerschon Yabusele responded, and the opening five minutes were played basket for basket with the teams trading the lead. However, in the second half of the first quarter, with points from Kamenjaš, Bosnia went on a 6:0 run and achieved their largest lead up to that point, but the French quickly responded, and thanks to successful three-pointers from Sylvain Francisco and Matthew Strazel, they finished the first quarter with a lead and a score of 15:16.

The second quarter began with points from Edin Atić, who once again gave the lead to the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Similar to the first quarter, the teams traded the lead, and the last five minutes of the half started with a tied score of 22:22. With just over two minutes left, the French gained their largest lead, prompting the coach of Bosnia and Herzegovina to call a timeout. Paul Lacombe's three-pointer gave the French a five-point lead, but Edin Atić responded with a successful three-pointer on the other end in the very next possession. Ajdin Penava from the free-throw line set the final score of the first half at 32:34.

The first points of the third quarter were scored almost two minutes in by Džanan Musa, momentarily bringing the score level. After those points, a run of 13 consecutive points by the French followed, giving them a lead of 34:47. Bosnia managed to reduce that lead by the end of the quarter, which finished 48:57.

The national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina had a great start to the final quarter, coming back to a complete tie with four points. Vincent Poirier's points broke our national team's run. Lazić and Musa responded, but the French, with another 7:0 run, regained a double-digit lead. They maintained this lead until the end and celebrated with a score of 64:74.
