(Patria) - In Doboj last night, a fan group burned the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while in East Sarajevo, a fan group blocked traffic with vulgar chants and glorification of a war criminal. BiH prosecutors without reaction this time too!?

Minister for Human Rights and Refugees Sevlid Hurtić and MP in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Amir Hurtić addressed this issue.

"We strongly condemn the nationalistic rampage of the fan group in Doboj and the shameful burning of the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which occurred on the night of January 9. Such actions do not represent merely an isolated incident, but a serious warning of how dangerous hate speech, extremism, and attempts to intimidate citizens are. Such acts directly offend the dignity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the sense of security of the citizens of Doboj who have been building coexistence and mutual trust for years. Precisely because of this, the responsibility of the institutions must be clear, swift, and unambiguous," the statement reads.

Minister Hurtić stated that "burning the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a red line and a direct attack on the state and all its citizens".

"This is not an incident that can be relativized or justified. The competent institutions must react urgently, identify the perpetrators, and impose clear and appropriate penalties, because only a decisive reaction from the state can prevent the repetition of such acts," said Minister Hurtić.

He particularly emphasized that such actions have broader consequences, as they not only offend the state but also instill fear and insecurity among citizens, especially among the returnee population. As he pointed out, the state has an obligation to clearly show that it will protect the rights, security, and dignity of all citizens, regardless of their national or religious affiliation.

Amir Hurtić, a member of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, stated that Doboj is an open and multi-ethnic city where Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats, and all other peoples have lived together for decades.

"A few extremists do not represent this city or its citizens, and Bosniaks in Doboj are not passers-by or guests; they are equal, proud citizens living in their homes and fearing no one," he added.

Both warned that burning the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina and offensive chants are not harmless outbursts, but messages that can have long-term consequences for the image, stability, and development of Doboj.

"If such acts are not sanctioned clearly and without reservation, a message is sent that hatred is allowed. We must not allow this, because Doboj must remain a symbol of an open, multi-ethnic, and modern city," added Minister Hurtić.

Both stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina is the state of all its citizens, and Doboj is a city where extremism, hatred, and violence have no place and will not have one.
