(Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed an indictment against the suspended President of the Court of BiH, Ranko Debevec, and the former Director of the Intelligence-Security Agency (OSA) of BiH, Osman Mehmedagić, Istraga.ba has learned.
The indictment has been submitted to the Court for confirmation. However, it is expected that after the confirmation of the indictment, the Court of BiH may declare itself incompetent and transfer the case to the federal judiciary.
The suspended President of the Court of BiH, Ranko Debevec, is accused on at least four counts of the indictment, namely for the criminal offenses of abuse of office and authority, receiving gifts, and gender discrimination.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH will accuse Debevec of receiving an expensive watch from Zdravko Mamić, the former head of Dinamo Zagreb who fled to BiH from the Croatian judiciary, as a token of gratitude for the BiH judiciary not making a decision on his extradition to Croatia.
The "gift" that Mamić sent to Debevec was delivered by businessman Ljiljanko Palac. Both Mamić and Palac have admitted their actions. The watch was not found during the search of Ranko Debevec's apartment.
In addition to this, Debevec has been indicted by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for receiving a Polo car from the company Kramar from Herzegovina.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH suspects that the company Kramar, also through businessman Ljiljanko Palac, managed to obtain a verdict that allowed them more favorable import of cars into BiH.
In return, a third person, connected to the President of the Court of BiH, received a Polo car as a bribe.
Ranko Debevec is also accused of committing the criminal offense of "gender discrimination," because, according to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, he "harassed" an employee of the Court of BiH who refused to be in a relationship with him.
Finally, the suspended President of the Court of BiH is accused of agreeing with Osman Mehmedagić, then director of OSA, to wiretap two numbers at the Court of BiH, specifically the numbers used by the duty phone lines for judges of the Court of BiH during their shifts, which was mostly from the end of working hours until the beginning of the next working day.
The second number was used by judges for preliminary proceedings of the Court of BiH. These judges were responsible for issuing search warrants and ordering detention.
The prosecution claims that Debevec and Mehmedagić conspired to obtain all the necessary documents for tracking four phone numbers (two at the Court and two at the Prosecutor's Office of BiH). According to the Law on OSA, the President of the Court signs OSA orders for phone tracking.
Former OSA Director Osman Mehmedagić is also indicted for issuing three honorary OSA badges.
The badges were issued to restaurateur Denis Stojnić, who has a criminal record, former Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH Adi Hadžikapetanović (deceased in the meantime), and Director of the Anti-Corruption Office of Sarajevo Canton Erduan Kafedžić.
