Tuš in Lukavica: Gave employees notice and did not allow them to take food worth a month's salary

The management of the Slovenian company „Tuš“ in BiH informed branch managers of its plans, while workers could only blindly follow their orders. In addition to losing their jobs after the closure of the „Tuš“ facilities in Stup and Lukavica, the company also owed them wages and other payments, and they were literally thrown out onto the street, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

As the now former workers of „Tuš“ recount, the managers of the facilities in Stup and Lukavica, although aware of what was coming, did not treat the workers equally.

While the manager of the facility in Stup allowed workers to buy goods at reduced prices, the manager of the facility in Lukavica would not even hear of it. On the last working day, she told the first shift to inform their colleagues from the second shift that they did not need to come and that the facility was closing.

The workers, knowing they would not receive what they were owed, then requested to take goods worth a month's salary. However, the facility manager did not even allow that.

The workers were left on the street, and there is still no official reaction. The Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH issued a statement on December 1, calling on all competent institutions in BiH and Slovenia to, within their jurisdiction, take all legally prescribed actions as soon as possible to determine the actual facts, and thus adequately protect the damaged BiH companies.

If bankruptcy proceedings are approved for Tuš, BiH companies and workers will be left without their claims. According to the data of the Foreign Trade Chamber, this involves a multi-million debt.
