Turkish Football Federation decides: Competitions to resume on December 19

(Patria) - The Turkish Football Federation decided today that all championships there will resume next Tuesday, December 19, after major disturbances in the first division match between Ankaragucu and Rizespor.

At the end of that match, played on Monday, the 37-year-old referee Halil Umut Meler was physically assaulted.

Meler was hit hard in the head by the president of Ankaragucu, and then, while he was lying on the grass, he was also physically attacked by home hooligans.

The Turkish Football Federation suspended all championships that same evening by decision at an extraordinary meeting, and today it was decided that all Turkish leagues will resume on December 19.

In the meantime, decisions and punishments are awaited for the major incident that occurred in Ankara, reports SCsport.ba.

15 rounds have been played in the elite class of Turkish football, and currently Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are at the top of the table, both with 40 points. Kayserispor is in third place with 29.
