Turkey adjusts measures to spread of coronavirus in the country, 1,529 infected

(Patria) – The Turkish government has increased assistance for its elderly citizens who are isolated at home, while introducing additional restrictions on movement for shopping and travel.

Turkey, which currently has 1,529 people infected with the coronavirus and 37 deaths, has introduced a partial curfew for people over 65 and those with chronic illnesses, but has mobilized groups that can take care of their basic needs.

So far, these groups have responded to more than 120,000 calls or requests for material assistance.

The engagement of an additional 32,000 medical workers has been announced, as well as a halt to the export of protective face masks to meet domestic needs.

In addition to the existing 50,000, the Turkish government has ordered rapid tests from China, as well as medicines that China used to alleviate symptoms of the disease in its citizens.

Schools, catering establishments, and religious gatherings have been closed, the working hours of grocery stores have been reduced, and flights to many countries have been suspended.
