Trump: Russia and Ukraine very close to peace agreement

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump said that Russia and Ukraine are approaching a peace agreement, calling on both sides to meet for talks at a "very high level" in order to finalize the deal.

“They are very close to a deal, and the two sides should now meet, at very high levels, to ‘finish’ it,” Trump wrote late Friday on his Truth Social platform, shortly after landing in Rome, where he is scheduled to attend the Pope's funeral on Saturday.

He added that “most of the main points have been agreed upon.”

“Stop the bloodshed, immediately. We will be wherever necessary to help facilitate the end of this cruel and senseless war!” the US president wrote.

Trump said it had been a “good day” of talks and meetings with Russia and Ukraine.

US special envoy Steve Witkoff met again on Friday with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social network that Ukraine is delaying the signing of the minerals agreement.

“Ukraine, led by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has still not signed the final documents on a very important rare earth elements agreement with the United States. The delay is already at least three weeks. We hope the agreement will be signed IMMEDIATELY. Work on the general peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine is proceeding smoothly. SUCCESS seems to be in sight!” he wrote.
