Trump on attacks on Iran: We are defending the American people

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump confirmed in a video posted on social media that the United States has launched a military campaign in Iran.

"Our goal is to defend the American people by eliminating the immediate threats from the Iranian regime, a cruel group of very difficult, terrible people," the president said in the video.

"Their activities directly threaten the United States, our troops, our overseas bases, and our allies around the world," he said in the eight-minute message.

"For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted Death to America and waged an endless campaign of bloodshed and mass murder, targeting the United States, our troops, and innocent people in many, many countries," Trump said, among other things.
