Poisoning of children in kindergartens: Director under fire, is Gold Mignon still the supplier?

The company Gold Mignon d.o.o. Sarajevo, which was issued a ban by the Veterinary Inspectorate in April 2015 on storing and distributing products of animal origin at the location Olimpijska bb because it was not even registered for such activity, which was only discovered in the case of mass poisoning of children from the public institution Djeca Sarajeva, whose food supplier was Gold Mignon, rented part of the warehouse from the legal entity Intercamp d.o.o., headquartered at Rajlovačka bb, which possesses the appropriate decision on meeting prescribed conditions and has the necessary conditions for storing products of animal origin (cooling chambers), confirmed by the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

We remind you that the mass poisoning of children with salmonella in kindergartens occurred on April 22, when 217 children sought medical help, and 55 were kept for treatment.

Gold Mignon initiated a procedure in May to acquire conditions at the said facility for storing products of animal origin with the Ministry of Economy of the Sarajevo Canton, even though until this case, they had been a supplier for 36 institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina for all types of meat, food, hygiene products, and even tires for dump trucks!?

There is no investigation against those responsible in this company, and the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office confirmed at the end of June that it is conducting a procedure to obtain evidence and other relevant documentation, all with the aim of making a prosecutorial decision in the case of the poisoning of children in the public institution Djeca Sarajeva at the end of April 2015, against the responsible person Mirjana Jovanović-Halilović, director of the public institution Djeca Sarajeva, who resigned at the beginning of July.

As established, the children in the kindergartens were poisoned by salmonella found in creamed spinach and pasta with eggs and sour cream.

As confirmed to Patria by the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs, Gold Mignon d.o.o. Sarajevo, at the location for which the ban was imposed (Olimpijska bb), conducts trade in products for which it has approval from the competent authority, storage conditions, as well as accompanying documentation on health safety (originally packaged food of animal origin with room temperature storage regime).
