TROPHY AFTER 14 YEARS: KK Bosna Meridianbet wins the 'Mirza Delibašić' Cup

(Patria) - The final of the 'Mirza Delibašić' Cup was played tonight in the small hall of Skenderija, with KK Bosna Meridianbet and KK Široki facing off. Earlier, the Students crushed Igokea in the semifinals, while the team from western Herzegovina was better than Leotar. In the end, Bosna celebrated with a score of 83:73.

This is Bosna's sixth trophy in the national cup. Previously, they won two within Yugoslavia and three within Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Both camps took the final duel for the trophy seriously, and there was considerable uncertainty in the first two quarters. Bosna had its biggest lead in the 12th minute, when it was 26:19. However, Široki's players responded with a 7:0 run. The teams went to the break with Bosna leading 44:43.

In the second half, Široki took a 54:51 lead with several baskets. The chosen ones of Aleksandar Damjanović made mistakes in attack, which the guests exploited.

In those moments, only Božović was in good form in the maroon team's ranks. Široki was dominant on the boards. The game then went basket for basket. Two minutes before the end of the third quarter, the scoreboard showed 58:56. Then Caruthers hit a three-pointer for 61:56. Čolak responded by hitting a three-point shot. Then Brala tied the game at 61:61 with two made free throws.

Everything suggested a dramatic finish. Široki opened the final quarter better. However, Hadžifejzović brought Bosna into the lead 64:63 with points from free throws. Junaković, a Široki basketball player, then made a mistake.

After Bosna's points, Junaković responded. However, the inspired Hadžifejzović scored two points with a foul. At that moment, it was 68:65 for the Students. Široki's players responded with a three-pointer and tied the score. However, with baskets by Ćurevac and Ilić, Bosna went up 72:68. Then Hadžifejzović hit for a plus 6. But the guests came back. Čolak attempted a three-pointer at 2:30 but failed to score. Then the guest coach called a time-out. However, after the break, Čolak hit three points for 76:73, but Ćurevac responded for 79:73. At that moment, it was clear that the Students were winning the trophy after 14 years.
