(Patria) - Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal defeated Austrian Dominic Thiem today in the first round of the ATP tournament in Brisbane with a score of 7-5, 6-1.
In the round of 16, the "king of clay" will play against the world's 102nd ranked tennis player, Australian Jason Kubler.
Nadal last played on January 18, 2023, and since then he has been plagued by injuries, particularly a foot problem, despite a successful hip recovery.
He is currently ranked 672nd in the ATP rankings, a result of injuries and a long break.
