Three losses: Bitter farewell for handball players from the European Championship

(Patria) - The BiH handball team recorded its third loss at the European Championship against Georgia (22:19), officially ending its participation in the championship held in Germany.

In the introduction to the match, it was known that both teams had lost their chances to advance to the next stage of the competition, and our team wanted to record a historic victory at the European Championship.

Many were surprised by the information that appeared an hour before the start of the match, which was that Benjamin Burić was left in the stands, and the young Hodžić was in the record book and started the match in goal.

Although the start of the match was very good, our handball players managed to ruin it by the end of the first half.

The first seven minutes brought only one goal, scored by Marko Panić. The excellent saves by young Hodžić are also worth noting.

In the middle of the first half, Panić scored a goal, and we had a four-goal lead, and in the 18th minute, it was 8:2 for our team.

Everything our handball players built in those 18 minutes, they squandered in the next 12 minutes, and the teams went into halftime with a score of 9:9.

Thus, by the end of the first half, we allowed Georgia to go on a run of as many as 7:1, and we also received a red card. Faljić was sent off in the 25th minute of the match.

Just like the first, the Bosnia and Herzegovina team opened the second half much better than their opponent.

Ahmetašević, who took over in goal in the second half, defended brilliantly in the opening minutes of the second part of the match.

Instead of going up by three in the 38th minute, we missed two penalties and two rebounds, but the Georgians took advantage of everything.

The Georgian handball players went on a 3:0 run, thus equalizing in the 40th minute with a score of 13:13.

Georgia took its first lead in the match in the 42nd minute with a score of 14:13.

The last ten minutes started with Georgia leading by two goals, but Đurđević scored and brought Bosnia and Herzegovina back to minus one.

Georgia then missed its attack, but Panić was sure on the other side and brought things back to an "egal".

However, the Georgian handball players quickly regained a two-goal lead, and the match entered the last five minutes with Georgia leading 20:18.

The last five minutes were truly incredible, but also full of easily lost balls by our national team players.

Georgia played brilliantly until the end of the match, and in the end, they achieved a historic victory of 22:19.

After returning to BiH, the players and coach Irfan Smajlagić will have topics to discuss.
