(Patria) - The Institute for Research of Genocide Canada (IGK), on behalf of the surviving victims of the Bosnian Genocide, demands an apology from the European Union Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR) due to the presence of EUFOR soldiers at the unconstitutional, anti-state, and anti-Bosnian celebration of January 9.
The victims of the Bosnian Genocide were deeply hurt and concerned by the presence of EUFOR soldiers at the celebration of January 9, which the Government of Canada condemned and labeled as an unconstitutional act that should be stopped by the competent state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The IGK welcomes the decision to suspend and send home from the area of operations the EUFOR soldier who, on January 9, during the marking of the RS entity day, which the Constitutional Court declared unconstitutional, stood in a church in Milići and also attended the serving of a memorial service for fallen soldiers in the Memorial Room.
However, bearing in mind that the right to dignity of the victims of the Bosnian Genocide has been seriously violated, we demand an apology from EUFOR to the victims, as a moral act.
EUFOR is well aware that on January 9, 1992, the Assembly of the Serbian People in Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Declaration on the Proclamation of the Republic of the Serbian People of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as an independent entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is tantamount to a coup d'état.
Also, EUFOR knows that the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has ruled three times that January 9 as the Day of the RS entity is unconstitutional because it discriminates against Bosniaks and Croats. Disrespecting the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a criminal offense punishable by up to five years in prison.
An apology from EUFOR is a moral act deserved by the victims of the Bosnian Genocide.
