Tragic end to search: Hunter Ismet Halilović from Maglaj found dead

(Patria) - Missing hunter Ismet Halilović (1956) from Gornja Liješnica, municipality of Maglaj, was found dead in the area of Komšić village near Žepče.

This information was published on their Facebook profile by the Mountain Rescue Service (GSS) Žepče.

"On 03/28, in the evening hours, while the GSS Žepče station was marking its eighth anniversary through winter conditions training, at 11:15 PM, a call was received from the Žepče Police Department regarding the disappearance of hunter Ismet Halilović (1956) from Gornja Liješnica, municipality of Maglaj.

According to available information, the missing person was last seen the same day around 2:00 PM, when he walked away in an unknown direction.

Members of the Maglaj Police Station, Žepče Police Department, Maglaj Fire Department, hunters, Civil Protection of the municipality of Maglaj, rescue teams from Maglaj, as well as local residents were already involved in the search.

Nine GSS Žepče rescuers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival at the location, information was received that the body of the missing person had been found at the Bijele vode stream locality - Komšić village, municipality of Žepče.

After the doctor - coroner from the Žepče Health Center confirmed the death of the found person, and the competent police officers of the Žepče Police Department conducted an investigation, GSS Žepče members proceeded with the demanding operation of transporting the body.

Using a 'mariner' stretcher, the body of the deceased was transported through extremely difficult and inaccessible wooded terrain, in conditions of reduced visibility, cold, rain, and snow, which further hampered movement.

The transport was successfully completed at 5:50 AM, when the body was handed over to the funeral home, while the entire operation concluded at 6:20 AM with the rescuers' return to the base in Žepče.

This operation once again confirmed the good cooperation, as well as the importance of coordinated action by all involved services of the municipalities of Žepče and Maglaj," the GSS Žepče announcement states.
