Sarajevo's Heavy Defeat: Široki Brijeg Wins 3:1 at Koševo

(Patria) - A match within the 19th round of the WWin League of Bosnia and Herzegovina was played at Koševo between Sarajevo and Široki Brijeg. In the end, the visitors achieved victory, with the final score being 3:1. The first half ended 0:0, and then a shock followed in the second half.

After 15 years, a group of Široki fans arrived at Koševo, and Sarajevo also had great support from the North.

The visitors had the first attempt of the match. It was the 12th minute when Ćavar tried from 25 meters, but the ball went wide of Sarajevo's goal. Six minutes later, Penaranda tried from about ten meters at an angle, but the ball went far from the goal.

In the 22nd minute, Penaranda again tried to beat the Široki Brijeg goalkeeper, but his shot again went wide. Ćavar tried in the 25th minute, but straight at Ilijev. A minute later, Oliveira had an opportunity, but without danger for Bender.

Široki Brijeg players executed a great counter-attack in the 29th minute, but Ćavar passed the ball poorly, and Beganović intervened brilliantly.

Until the end of the first half, there were no serious chances in front of either goal.

At the very opening of the second half, silence fell over Koševo. Lukić scored a spectacular goal from about twenty meters to give the visitors the lead.

Sarajevo players hadn't even recovered from this shock when another blow followed.

It was the 53rd minute when the visitors executed a great counter-attack, finished with a goal by Kuprešak.

It could have been dangerous in front of Sarajevo's goal in the 64th minute because Iliev misjudged the ball's flight, but Lukić didn't manage to capitalize.

A third goal was looming. In the 75th minute, Chinedu assisted Mamić, whose clear chance was saved by Iliev.

Two minutes later, Chinedu went one-on-one with Iliev, but the assistant referee stopped everything by raising his flag and signaling offside.

The question of the winner was settled in the 78th minute. A good attack by Široki Brijeg, a cross from Capan, and Mišić scored to make it 3:0.

Sarajevo fans then began to leave the stands of the Koševo stadium, realizing their team would suffer a defeat.

It could have been 4:0 in the 85th minute. Capan had a clear chance, but Iliev saved his team in that situation.

Until the end of the match, Mirza Mustafić scored a world-class goal, thus slightly mitigating his team's defeat, but it was still not enough to improve the impression of today's match.

Sarajevo coach Simon Rožman stated after the match that this is certainly a painful defeat for Sarajevo.

"Congratulations to Široki. As for us, we had some chances in the first half. A world-class goal broke us, the players shied away from the ball more. Too little transition, too little depth, not much was right. We know much better."

"It's evident that all teams have been defending like us, whoever has the ball more makes more mistakes. We have a path, the players today didn't play as they know how," said Rožman.
