(Patria) - Muamer Terzo, candidate for the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council on the list of the Party of Democratic Action, was born in 1999 in Sarajevo, is a final-year, sixth-year student at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo, and is one of the young people aiming through his work to create a better and more pleasant environment for citizens.
He was actively involved in basketball, becoming a two-time champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through long-term membership in the municipal Association of Youth of SDA Novo Sarajevo and socially useful volunteering programs, he participated in numerous activities for the benefit of the local community. He currently holds the position of Vice President of the Cantonal Organization of the Association of Youth of SDA Sarajevo.
Why choose SDA as a key partner for the progress and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the local elections?
SDA is the force that bravely defended and protected our homeland, while tirelessly building, strengthening, and developing Bosnia and Herzegovina. Growing up with memories of my uncle Muamer Terzo, recipient of the Golden Lily award, and my uncle Mirza Pandžić, who gave their lives for the foundations of our homeland, my commitment to the progress of the local community and the strengthening of Bosnia and Herzegovina is unquestionable.
I am obliged to fulfill their dreams, because that is my life's mission – to fight for a better future for all of us. SDA responded to 50 years of political and cultural suppression of Yugoslav Muslims and the obvious war threat against Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a broad popular movement, it became the bearer of the political emancipation of Bosniaks and a key actor in preserving state continuity at the end of the 20th century. The party focused on preserving peace and protecting the interests of the people, emphasizing political freedom and civilizational progress.
The interest of the state is above all, and a strong SDA means a stronger BiH. In this context, I have demonstrated knowledge, experience, and readiness to make decisions that strengthen local communities and protect our homeland. With the support of the most organized political party in BiH, I emphasize the importance of full legitimacy for SDA in the upcoming local elections, because a vote for SDA is a vote for progress.
What will be your role at the local level in healthcare, given that you are a future doctor?
My role at the local level in healthcare will be focused on improving the quality of healthcare for citizens through the implementation of initiatives: Increasing the number of specialist examinations and diagnostics, health education and prevention, improving working conditions in clinics, improving mental health, and improving care for the elderly.
What motivates you to engage in politics at all as a future doctor?
As a future doctor, my motivation for engaging in politics stemmed from a deep desire to improve the healthcare system of the local community and to contribute to creating conditions where future generations will see their place, achieve a livelihood, and not feel the need to leave the country. In addition to improving conditions for young people, I would also work on improving healthcare for the elderly, as well as the entire veteran population that gave their health to defend the state when it was most needed.
In addition to the above, I cannot sit idly by regarding the situation in the Novo Sarajevo municipality over the past few years, because to remain silent and passive means to condone the neglect of the citizens of Novo Sarajevo.
What are the key decisions that SDA has made to strengthen our homeland, and how can education contribute to political changes in local communities?
SDA, as emphasized, has made the bravest and most beneficial decisions for our homeland. SDA has always placed state interests above personal ones. Education is the foundation of our patriotism, therefore it is crucial that on the electoral lists, alongside experienced individuals, there is a larger number of younger and new faces who will protect our local communities. The education of young people contributes to political changes in local communities by strengthening political awareness, empowering citizens through critical thinking, transparency, and accountability.
At the same time, it provides young people with the ability and space for leadership and expertise within the community itself, thereby enabling better management and decision-making that reflects the interests of citizens. With a larger number of young and capable leaders, the chance increases that local communities will become politically empowered and ready to create positive changes.
