BRATISLAVA, (Patria) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina Davis Cup tennis team has started gathering in Bratislava ahead of the match against Slovakia.
Our tennis players will play the second round match of the First Euro-African Zone against the home team of Slovakia on Friday and Saturday.
Mirza Bašić and Nerman Fatić arrived in Bratislava on Monday and completed their first training session, while our best player Damir Džumhur and captain Tomislav Brkić joined the team today.
In the singles matches, Džumhur and Bašić will play for our team, while Lukas Lacko and Andrej Martin will play for Slovakia. Both Slovak tennis players are ranked lower on the ATP list than our players.
The other two Slovak players, Martin Klizan and Jozef Kovalik, who are expected to play in the doubles, are better ranked than Brkić and Fatić.
The draw for the matches will take place on Thursday, April 5, and the matches will begin on Friday at 4 PM and on Saturday at 2 PM. The matches will be played on clay courts at the NTC Arena in Bratislava.
Under the new rules, Davis Cup matches are played to two wins, not three wins as before. The better team from this duel will advance to the play-off for entry into the World Group, and the matches will be played in September.
