Teletović: It will be my pleasure to select the best athletes of BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Today in Sarajevo, at the building of Radio-Television of BiH, the constitutive session of the 18th selection of the best athlete of BiH was held, organized by Nezavisne novine and Radio Television of BiH.

At the head of this year's jury is celebrated Bosnian basketball player Mirza Teletović, whose chairmanship marked the official start of this year's jury, which once again includes prominent athletes, sports workers, and representatives of Bosnian media.

- I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the given opportunity. I am somehow glad to be on this side this time; earlier I was on the other side as an athlete. It will be my pleasure to help with this selection. Athletes are somehow our best ambassadors of BiH, so I am also glad from that side to help choose the best candidates who have represented our homeland. It is an honor and a pleasure for me to be part of this - said Teletović, who left a deep mark in European and NBA basketball.

The long-time captain of the Bosnian national team knows what every award coming from their country means to athletes, given that he himself received the award for the best athlete of BiH.

- Every recognition we give to our athletes, at least I saw it from a personal and private side, when it comes from BiH, it was a billion times dearer to me than any recognition from another country. I would also like to thank for the earlier awards that our athletes received, because they appreciate them greatly - concluded Teletović.

As before, awards will be given in 12 categories: best male athlete, best female athlete, best team, best coach, audience award, most promising male athlete, most promising female athlete, fair-play award, award for the development of sports in BiH, lifetime achievement, best athlete in sports for the disabled, and best team in sports for the disabled.

The ceremonial event of the 18th selection of the best athlete of BiH will be held on December 17 in the Congress Hall of the Holiday Hotel in Sarajevo, with a live broadcast on BHT 1.

The second session, where the broad lists of nominees in all categories will be adopted, will be held on November 8 in Mostar at the Hotel Bristol, starting at 12:00 PM.

The third session is on November 15 in Banja Luka at the building of Nezavisne novine, and the final meeting of the expert body is on the day of the event itself at the Holiday Hotel, where final decisions will be made.
