Technical condition of Ugljevik Thermal Power Plant chaotic and decaying

(Patria) - And while the Management claims it is a usual malfunction and that work is being done to fix it, experts familiar with how the Ugljevik Thermal Power Plant operates are posing the following questions to the management of RiTE:

If the malfunction that occurred is something that happens often, let the management of RiTE answer, when was the last time the chain wheel on the scraper broke? Is the shaft on the scraper damaged and to what extent?

Did the pins on the chain wheel break before the chain wheel itself, as a physical protection against the chain wheel breaking, and were inappropriate pins used instead of standard ones during replacement?

Did the overcurrent protection on the scraper motor react and was it bypassed?", writes BN TV.

They also demand an answer from the company's Management:

Who managed the repair operation and made decisions about bypassing both physical and electrical protection. And how much time passed from the moment the scraper stopped until the unit went offline?

They further state that the condition with coal dust on the boiler has never been worse and warn that it (coal dust), at a certain concentration and temperature, becomes very explosive.

According to these sources, the firefighting personnel extinguishing slag particles do not have the prescribed firefighting suits, but extinguish fires in ordinary work suits.

All of this supports the fact that the thermal power plant in Ugljevik is in a chaotic state of "decay" and that, as our sources claim, a lot of it was caused by unqualified staff.

Let us remind you that on the evening of December 30, RiTE Ugljevik was shut down due to a breakdown that occurred at the company, caused by problems with the scraper, i.e., the deslagger, which was caused by human error.

Slag that did not leave continuously accumulated and broke the mechanical parts of the scraper, leading to a fire. What made the situation terrible was the flame that rose so high that it is a miracle that the coal dust, which is present in huge quantities on the boiler, did not ignite and explode, sources from the company told BN, adding that it is pure luck that everything passed without injuries.

The management of RiTE Ugljevik only commented on this breakdown yesterday, stating that it is a usual malfunction, on which active work is being done to fix it.
