Tegeltija objects to Investigative Committee, Arnaut reveals hearings will be public

“We have no dilemma about talking to the Parliament. But this investigative committee is truly unacceptable. It is a gross interference in the work of the judiciary. There must be boundaries. What kind of partnership is it when you talk about the judiciary, and no one invites you. We must point out deviations that harm the judicial system. We must send a message to everyone on how to position ourselves in such a situation,” said Tegeltija.

However, international officials are also satisfied with the formation of this body, as they believe that the work of this committee will have positive effects on both the work of the judiciary and the identification of shortcomings in the justice system. The constitutive session of this Committee will be held soon, and in the next phases, responsible persons from the judiciary will be invited for hearings. First and foremost, Milan Tegeltija, as well as other members of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council.

The initiator of the formation of this Committee, Damir Arnaut, did not have many comments on Tegeltija's statement.

“Given that I am a member of this committee, which has already been formed, it would not be appropriate for me to comment in the media on the statements of officials from institutions whose work, according to the decision of the House of Representatives, this committee will now investigate and who, by that decision, have fallen under the mandate of this committee. According to the Rules of Procedure, all hearings will be public, and the media will have access to all information in this official environment – which BiH has not seen before,” says Arnaut.
