Tegeltija requested security due to Mektić's calls for protests

SARAJevo, (Patria) - After the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Mektić, called for citizen protests in front of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council building, the president of this body, Milan Tegeltija, requested security due to, as he stated, his personal safety during his stay in Sarajevo.

Tegeltija believes that, in the context of all current events "and the statements of the Minister of Security, his safety is called into question".

"Such calls coming from the Minister of Security of BiH, as a direct representative of the executive power in BiH responsible for the security sector, pose a particular danger, both to the safety of the president, vice-president, and other members of the HJPC of BiH, and to the protection of the constitutional order in BiH," Tegeltija stated in a press release.

The head of the HJPC called on the Prosecutor's Office of BiH to consider such actions by Dragan Mektić within its jurisdiction, in the context of the provisions of the Criminal Code of BiH.

"The Minister of Security, who is an active politician and a direct representative of the executive power, cannot call citizens to civil protests because all protests initiated by him are exclusively political in nature," Tegeltija added.
