Tarik Prusac killed his wife with a service pistol, Agency reported the pistol stolen only after the murder!

(Patria) - Tarik Prusac killed his ex-wife Elma Godinjak with shots from a service pistol he carried at the SEC ONE security agency, Istraga.ba reports.

According to current legal regulations, he was not allowed to carry the weapon outside of his workplace. However, he did carry it, and the SEC ONE security agency only reported the pistol stolen to the police after it was revealed that their employee Tarik Prusac had committed the murder.

“An agency performing physical security services may possess short-barreled firearms for no more than half of its personnel, which guards will carry for self-defense.”, it is stated in the Law on Agencies and Internal Services for the Protection of People and Property.

From this, it is clear that the weapon belongs to the Agency, not to the security guard himself. And when that weapon can be used is stated in the Law on the Acquisition, Possession, and Carrying of Weapons and Ammunition of Sarajevo Canton.

“(Entrusting the carrying of weapons within a legal entity and with entrepreneurs) (1) Legal entities and entrepreneurs who possess weapons based on Article 20 of this law may entrust their carrying only to persons who meet the conditions from Article 10 of this law.

(2) A person from paragraph (1) of this article to whom a weapon has been entrusted may use and handle it only during the performance of duties within the facility, i.e., the area where the activity is carried out and along the route of movement of the transport they are securing, and during the period when the weapon is not in use, it must be kept in a safe place so that unauthorized persons cannot access it.”; it is stated in Article 21 of the Law on the Acquisition, Possession, and Carrying of Weapons and Ammunition of Sarajevo Canton.

Therefore, Tarik Prusac had to return the weapon to the Agency immediately after his shift ended. He did not return it. But no one from the Agency informed the police about it. Not until Prusac killed his ex-wife.

Since April 8 of this year, Tarik Prusac had a court order prohibiting him from approaching Elma Godinjak. Previously, on April 7, the Novi Grad Sarajevo Police Administration issued emergency protection measures against Tarik Prusac, which remained in effect until the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, a day later, on April 8, issued a restraining order against his ex-wife.

The police first received information about Tarik Prusac's illegal behavior on February 22, when Elma Godinjak reported to the police in Dobrinja that she had received threatening and abusive messages from her husband after informing him that she wanted a divorce. On the same day, Elma Godinjak was referred to the Novi Grad Sarajevo Police Administration, but she refused to testify against Tarik at that time.

Although she refused to testify against her husband, the Police, in accordance with the Law on Protection from Family Violence and Violence against Women in FBiH, conducted a risk assessment for the children, and on February 22, they imposed emergency protection measures on Tarik Prusac, and the duty judge for misdemeanors at the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, Aida Osmanspahić, was also informed about this.

Two days later, shortly before the emergency protection measures expired, the Police submitted a Request for the imposition of protection measures against the violent person Prusac Tarik, and informed the Social Work Center about everything.

However, the Municipal Court in Sarajevo then suspended the proceedings for the imposition of protection measures, emphasizing that “there are no conditions for imposing protection measures prescribed by the Law on Protection from Family Violence and Violence against Women in FBiH” because Elma Godinjak refused to testify. Regardless of this, on March 3, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton submitted the complete file to the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office. But the story doesn't end there.

On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Elma Godinjak informed the police that four days earlier, on April 3, 2026, her husband Tarik Prusac had come to her workplace and said: “Let’s talk, if you report me, I’ll end up in prison, I’ll lose my job, I won’t be able to pay child support”. The next day, April 4, Prusac intercepted Elma Godinjak in his car, saying he had “come for the child”. The following day, April 5, Prusac stalked Elma but did not approach her. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton informed the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office about this report, and the duty prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, Alma Džinović, determined that in this specific case, it was a criminal offense of Family Violence.

On April 7, the police issued emergency protection measures, and already on April 8, the Municipal Court in Sarajevo issued a Decision imposing protection measures on Tarik Prusac, namely – “prohibition of approaching the victim of violence” and “prohibition of communication, harassment, and stalking” – his wife Elma Godinjak. The measures were in effect on the day of the murder, and from April 8 to May 1, Elma Godinjak did not report to the police that her husband had approached her.
